Mr. Edward S. Gaamuwa


Mr. Edward is an Economist and a Human Resource Specialist trained in Uganda, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. He holds Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is a visionary and an experienced professional executive, highly conceptual, with strong skills in people development and management as well as in organisation development (OD). Excellent at grasping issues of governance and leadership; and has a high aptitude to conceptualise and contextualise ideas. He has a passion for development and empowering others.
Mr. Edward is the Managing Director of BDN a newly registered private company established to promote socio-economic development and to empower communities, of which he is a co-founder. He brings to this job over 35 years of work experience gained from public sector, civil society as well as from the private sector. Recently, he retired from ACLAIM Africa Ltd a private consultancy practice in management (financial and human resource) and training. In addition to being an Executive Director of the company he also held key roles as a Team Leader in charge of OD/HR and Capacity Building. Before that he was in charge of Client Services for quality assurance.

He was also the Project Manager of the DFID Civil society Umbrella programme which sought to build capacity of a number of Civil Society organisations in the country. During his tenure at ACLAIM Africa, Edward was lead consultant on many assignments especially in those related to governance and leadership, HR/OD and training and his work took him several countries in Africa.

Prior to ACLAIM, Edward worked at World Vision International (Uganda) as Human Resource Director. He played a key role to establish World vision in Uganda during the difficult years at the end of the civil war (1986). He provided leadership to a number of initiatives including coordinating relief efforts in Uganda and Rwanda (after the 1994 genocide).

He has provided leadership to well-resourced organizations with large sums of money at their disposal such as the National Social Security Fund which he chaired for three years. He was also a Board Member on the Housing Finance Bank in Uganda and a Member of the Board of Opportunity International Network organization based in Chicago. Edward has not only served a number of organization at the board level he has also been very instrument in co-founding several organization including BDN a business company, ACLAIM Africa a consultancy company, Uganda Agency for Development (UGAFODE) a micro-finance institution, Kampala Evangelical School of theology and others
